Privacy
The plain-language version first: your readings are private — only people you send the link to can open them. If you choose to share a person with the network, only signed-in members can see them; the network is not public. Enter another person's details only with their permission.
Who is responsible
Thunder & Lightning is an independent project. Legal residence: Italy. Contact: hello@tlsyn.com
What is stored
Waiting list: if we are too busy to write your free reading straight away and you leave an email, we keep that email with the reading's birth details only until the reading is sent, then delete the email.
Accounts: username, an optional display name, an optional email (only used for password resets and, if you opt in, the daily digest), and a securely hashed password.
People & charts: the name, birth date, time and place you enter, the positions computed from them, and any contact links you explicitly choose to publish. Private, unless you choose to share them with the network, which only signed-in members can see.
Reports: the generated text and PDF. Private: only people you send the link to can open them. A reading of two people who are both shared with the network can also be opened by signed-in members.
Usage statistics: we count page views with an anonymised token that changes every day, and Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits without cookies. No advertising trackers, no profiling. Cookies: the session cookie that keeps you signed in; a 30-day cookie that remembers who invited you, when you arrive through a friend's shared reading; and, only if you vote on the roadmap, a cookie that remembers your vote (up to two years).
Where it lives
The site runs on Hugging Face Spaces and is reached through Cloudflare, which also routes our email. The database is backed up to a private Hugging Face dataset and to the owner's own computer. These providers may process technical data (such as IP addresses).
AI writing
To write a reading, the computed chart data and first names are sent through OpenRouter to the AI model that writes it — today Muse Spark (Meta) for full readings and GPT-5.6 Luna (OpenAI) for free short readings. Birth dates and places are not sent. They are used only to write the text.
Password-reset links, the optional daily digest and, if you tick it, occasional project news are sent through Resend, only to the address you gave us. No other marketing.
Location
The live-sky page uses a location only when you tap the 📍 button — an approximate, network-based lookup used once to set the map point. It is not stored.
The globe
The globe (Meridian) computes a chart in memory and returns the facts; raw birth data is not written to application logs. Interpretations are cached against a hash of the chart and a coarse geohash of where you clicked — never against your name. The people you can open on the globe are the ones already in your Thunder & Lightning network, under the same public/private rule as everywhere else. Forget this chart clears the current session's chart id and asks the server to drop the prose cached against it. Typing in the place field queries the configured Photon geocoder as you type; the chart service receives the resolved moment and coordinates and returns positions rather than storing a birth record. The optional AI prose is opt-in — the globe works without it.
Your rights
You can see, correct and delete your data: edit your own entry with your edit password, delete your account's entries yourself, or simply email us — we will remove your entry and reports. When you delete a person, their readings are deleted with them. Older copies can stay in our private backups for a while; ask us and we will remove those too. You also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority — in Italy, the Garante per la Protezione dei Dati Personali.
One honest line
Thunder & Lightning is for self-reflection, curiosity and joy — it is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice.
